Anthony O'Rourke

Anthony is a commercial and property solicitor with 20 plus years' of legal experience.

Besides being a lawyer in private practice, Anthony has worked as a corporate lawyer and senior manager in financial services and business owner and operator in hospitality. Due to his varied experience, Anthony sees things from a legal and commercial point of view.

Anthony has a general commercial practice which includes advising clients on a variety of matters including the following:

  • Residential & commercial conveyancing.
  • Leasing.
  • Loan documentation, mortgages & security arrangements.
  • Land development & subdivisions.
  • Sale & purchase of businesses.

Anthony’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts/Law from the University of Tasmania and a Masters of Business Administration from Melbourne Business School. His interests outside of work include property development.

Melanie Harris

Mel is a Devonport local who has lived here and worked here for most of her life aside from a brief hiatus in Hobart for 6 years. Before practicing as a solicitor, Mel held administrative positions in a couple of large businesses in Devonport.

Mel has a diverse range of practicing skills with experience across a broad range a legal areas including commercial and conveyancing. Mel’s main areas of practice are Wills and estate planning including guardianship and attorney matters and estate administration including intestate estates.

Mel’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws with first class Honours from the University of Tasmania. She was admitted in 2018.

Justin Castles

Justin is a commercial and property lawyer. He graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Laws in 2015 and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Tasmania in 2016.

Justin practices in the following areas:

Lorraine Higgs

Lorraine is our firm’s most senior conveyancer having worked in conveyancing, commercial & corporate law for over 35 years.

She has worked for O’Rourke & Kelly for over 12 years and has a wealth of experience which she brings to the firm’s conveyancing practice. 

Chloe Mulley

Chloe commenced at our firm as our Receptionist/Junior before leaving for to pursue other adventures. Upon her return to the office, Chloe is now a valued member of our Conveyancing Team.

Committed to providing a very high standard of service, Chloe is here to assist our clients and deal with any property matters that they have.

Joanne Ready

Joanne joined O’Rourke & Kelly in 1987 and is our most senior probate clerk and longest serving team member.

Applying her invaluable knowledge and experience, Joanne is committed to giving our clients any assistance they need and guiding them through what can often be a very emotional and difficult time.

Shyra Vidal

After working in property and commercial law, Shyra is now a probate clerk.

Committed to providing a very high standard of service, Shyra is here to assist our clients and deal with any administrative matters that they have.

Jude Baird

Jude has a background in finance before becoming a law clerk. She returned to O’Rourke & Kelly in 2022.

Jude has over eight years experience in conveyancing, mortgage & estates matters.

Jude is currently our Senior Settlements and Agency Clerk and is committed to providing clients and various stakeholders with the highest level of efficiency and expertise.
